SIX MOON DESIGNS FLIGHT 40 BACKPACKER
SIX MOON DESIGNS FLIGHT 40 BACKPACKER
SMALL
HIP BELT SMALL
The Flight 40 is one of the most configurable packs available on the market today with 63 possible setups. This allows you to customize it for what ever application you need.
To simply things, we're splitting the Flight 40 into two separate webpages. The Flight 40 Backpacker and the Flight 40 FKT. The basic distinction between the two setups is that the Flight 40 FKT utilizes the Vest Yoke. While the Flight 40 Backpacker uses a more traditional standard Shoulder Yoke.
In it's basic Backpacker configuration with padded shoulder straps and our standard hip belt, the Flight 40 is a real load hauler. It is capable of carrying up to 40lbs - 18kg. Yet weights in at 43oz - 1.2kg. If you're carrying less than 20lbs - 9kg, you can pair down the weight of the Flight 40 to 29oz - 820g.
The Flight 40 Backpacker can be ordered with your choice of eight different hip belts and three different yokes. This allows for twenty seven different possible combinations.
Flight 40 Support Structure
The Flight 40 achieves true load transfer at higher rates than comparable packs. First is our high quality multi-density hip belt. It will take a load without collapsing after many miles of use. This plastic / foam core, allows the weight evenly distributed over a large surface area of your waist without sagging.
Also unique to the Flight hip belt is its ability to articulate around your hip bone. A section of plastic is remove at each end of the hip belt to allow the articulation.
This articulation is accentuated by our unique closure. Each of our straps are independent and terminate at the buckle. This allows you to set different levels of tension between the top and bottom of the hip belt. Straps that simply loop between the top and bottom of the belt will simply reset as you walk.
A Delron hoop stay inside the pack bag, provides enough support to enable load transfer with minimum weight. The bottom of the stay is directed back to a junction to the center of the pack. This junction provides a direct connection between the stay and the hip belt. Typically with ultralight packs, the stays and hip belt are separated by several inches of fabric. The result is that when weight is applied to the stay, the pack sags.
With the Flight 40, all of the downward force from the stay is transferred directly to the hip belt. With a rigid hip belt and stay, the load radiates out over a large surface area eliminating pressure points. The end result is a significantly more comfortable carry at heavier loads.
