BRUNTON VAPOR-AF
BRUNTON VAPOR-AF
Alternative energy isn’t just for your biodiesel Benz anymore. Brunton’s top canister is a world stomper’s combustible dream, able to burn most any flammable liquid, from butane or kerosene to Jet-A (really!). And we loved that we hardly had to tinker to switch between them — just twist the burner. The Vapor is as gorgeous and tightly machined as it is adaptable, and it doesn’t just look hot: At full blast, the stove pumped out some quality heat (12,000 BTUs), yet offered exceptional simmer control that trumps some full-size stovetops we’ve cooked on.
WIRED Comes with 20.3-ounce aluminum fuel canister and thick foil windscreen. Stuff sack pocket is a perfect stash for included multitool and jet-cleaning needle. Beerlover’s bonus: Multitool has an integrated opener. Precision flame control for both butane and liquid fuel — we can’t stress enough how fantastic this is.
TIRED No built-in ignition. Legs don’t lock in place. A tad noisy. Plastic fuel pump won’t outlive the brass/aluminum/steel stove. Modest 6-inch diameter from end to end, so no super-wide pots. Two bills for a single burner?
